We have a new requirement to create formatted tooltips rather than simple multi-line unformatted text.
Is this possible? It looks like the current tooltip can only be plain text. I would like to create something like:



Can I hook into a shape Mouse Hover event somehow and render my own tooltip with formatted text, configurable borders, drop shadow, background colour etc., and get at the shape data?

Hi,

The tool tips in Nevron Diagram for .NET can only contain plain text. If you want to provide your own tool tips, you can subscribe to the NodeMouseEnter event of the drawing document's event sink service:

}

private ToolTip m_ToolTipComponent;

The code above shows the type of the hovered shape as its tool tip. To create a WinForms tool tip component subscribe to this event handler you can use the following code:

m_ToolTipComponent = new ToolTip();
document.EventSinkService.NodeMouseEnter += OnEventSinkService_NodeMouseEnter;

For some reason I can't get any EventSinkService events to fire. Do you have nay suggestions? Do I need to initialise the service?

Can I get the NMapFeature information for the tooltip using this method?

To be able to get the NMapFeature for each shape, we recommend you create and assign a custom shape created listener to the map importer, which stores the NMapFeature in the Tag property of the created shape:

    public override bool OnPolygonCreated(NDiagramElement element, NMapFeature feature)
    {
        NShape shape = element as NShape;
        if (shape != null)
        {
            shape.Tag = feature;
        }

        return true;
    }

    public override bool OnMultiPolygonCreated(NDiagramElement element, NMapFeature feature)
    {
        return OnPolygonCreated(element, feature);
    }
}

You can then use the Tag property of the shape in the event sink service's event handler to get the NMapFeature the shape was created from. If in the event handler the hit node is a Model (not a shape) simply use its ParentNode property to get its owner shape and then use the Tag property of the shape to get the NMapFeature it was created from.

Regarding your other question about the the EventSinkService now firing any events, please make sure that you have attached the document to a drawing view. If you have and it is still not working, please send us a sample project that demonstrates the problem. We will analyze your code and tell you how to fix it.
