This is being requested by upper executive management. I told them I'd look into it.

What is being requested is a something that reselmbles a burndown chart on top of the standard bar chart where the high point on the left can be set to a value, and the low end on the right bottoms out at 0. Please don't ask me why they are asking for this.

Has anyone ever tried anything like this?

Thanks

Hi Johnny,

Can you post a screenshot or a sketch of the chart the management wants to show, along with the format of the underlying data?

Best Regards,

This is a sample of what I'm hoping to do, however the top point on the left should be (maybe doesn't have to be) a variable number that can be set, and the bottom right point bottom out to zero.

The bar chart would operate normally.  The data in the bar charts would be a grouped sum of project hours spent within a calendar quarter, and the burndown would be a representation of available funding for the project (functioning more as a guideline). So if I say Project X is funded for 12 months, with a budget of $14k, then the top left point would be set to 14 (like on the sample image), and bottom out at zero at the end of the chart to the right.

The final product would have 4 columns, one for each quarter, and the line points would show where they should be with regards to expenses vs. budget. But it would essentially look like the image.

Hello Johnny,
You can achieve this with the help of the Combo Chart type.

Can you please send us a snapshot (sample) of the data you have?
We will then be able to provide you with example.

I've attached a spreasheet with some columns missing that are not necessary for this issue, and edited some of the numbers on all columns for obvious reasons.
